if only a bag of them didn't cost 35 AUD. *sigh
i was having the munchies earlier, and my mind kept straying back to a dish i always ordered in Delicious, One Utama whenever i went there: mushrooms sauteed with garlic and balsamic vinegar, laying ontop a perfectly toasted slice of ciabatta bread.
i didn't have ciabatta, but what i did have was a fairly large loaf of multigrain sandwich bread and swiss mushrooms, so i googled up the recipe and experimented a little with it... and guess what this girl who used to have a major handicap in the kitchen came up with?

wait. don't say it. i know, photography fail. but i couldn't be bothered to lean over the plate taking 238470234 photos when it was practically screaming at me to eat it. in fact, i even took a bite before taking this photo :p
here's the recipe (what i remember of it, anyway)
ingredients
a bowl of fresh Swiss mushrooms (you could also use Portobello mushrooms, or a mixture), chopped
balsamic vinegar of Modena, 2-3 teaspoons
olive oil, 3 tbsp
3 garlic cloves, chopped
salt and pepper to taste
bread (any type, it's really up to you, but i prefer multigrain or wholemeal)
oregano (optional: i didn't add any because i didn't have any, haha)
- gently fry the garlic in the olive oil in a saucepan for a minute or two, don't let it turn brown
- add the mushrooms and let them cook for about three minutes, stirring occasionally
- next, add the balsamic vinegar, and cook for an additional three minutes, or until the mushrooms are fully cooked
- add pepper and salt
- pile the mushrooms on top of your toast, and then sprinkle the entire thing with a bit of olive oil and balsamic vinegar
- enjoy!
